Investing, concepts in SMR and planning
There are several SMR concepts ready to be licensed and developed. Some countries, are investing and planning to deploy SMR in the future.
Countries that are actively developing or have expressed interest in deploying SMR include the:
- United States
- Canada
- Russia
- China
- South Korea
- England
- ...
In the United States, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has already approved design certification for one SMR design, and several other designs are under consideration.
In Canada, the government has launched an initiative to promote SMR development, and several companies are working on SMR concepts.
Russia and China have also made significant investments in SMR development, and both countries plan to deploy SMRs in the coming years.
South Korea is also investing in SMR as part of its efforts to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
In the England, a program has been launched to promote the development of SMRs and identify potential sites for their deployment.
